In June 2018 my beautiful daughter Stephanie was attending a sleepover with friends. She began having difficulty breathing and collapsed. Her friends and friend’s parents commenced CPR before she was rushed to hospital in an ambulance where she remained in a critical but stable condition. A CT scan discovered there was large lymphoma tumour in her chest located between her heart and lungs, which was pressing on these vital organs and the reason she went into cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, further tests showed that her brain had suffered significant damage and she remained unresponsive. After we said our final goodbyes, her life support was switched off 2 days later. Her passing was peaceful and completely without pain.
To honour her memory I am again swimming the 5km distance in the 2019 Cole Classic. My team is raising funds for the Kids Cancer Project. This is a fantastic charity that provides funding for research initiatives aimed at eliminating cancer in children. Too many of our youth are taken each year to this hideous disease.
I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I'm inspired by the work of Kids Cancer Project and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in The 2019 Sydney Morning Herald Sun Run & Cole Classic. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Kids Cancer Project, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
